It’s been a long break from the DL for most countries’ Olympic trials, but the Oslo and Stockholm meetings were not to be forgotten — thanks to Bislett Games winners SOGGY, manbearpig, and lenne as well as BAUHAUS-galan predictors AQ, dimitlof1, and Noah for topping the leaderboards.
It’ll be tough to follow the likes of Hagos Gebrhiwet’s 12:36 5000m in Oslo, but the competitors in Paris and Monaco will try this upcoming week as entries were finalized this morning. The Olympic Games host site DL will be particularly meaningful this year, with many Americans who just missed the team in Eugene looking for post-Trials redemption (beginning with Tinch, Cunningham, and Beard running in the 110mH semi-finals an hour before the TV window) while other international athletes will be looking for a dry run of what’s to come next month.
The biggest stars to watch will be Alison Dos Santos responding to Rai Benjamin’s 400mH win at the U.S. Trials, Emmanuel Wanyonyi fresh off his 1:41 #2 all-time 800m at the Kenyan trials, and Faith Kipyegon returnining to the 1500m in her first DL of the year, after coming back from injury to qualify at her trials.
In Monaco, Dos Santos will be back to challenge Karsten Warholm, along with several other potential Paris Olympic medallist pairings such as Grant Holloway vs Hansle Parchment in the 110mH, Michael Norman vs world indoor record holder* Christopher Morales Williams in the 400m, Noah Lyles vs Letsile Tebogo in the 200m, and Wanyonyi returning to battle World champ Marco Arop in the 800m.
Click the unified links below and remember to submit your entries before the deadline, being sure to check that your submission was received by going to the “Submissions” page. Good luck, and feel free to reply to this email or click the email icon on-site with any feedback.
