Just two to go. In years past, Zurich and Brussels have served as co-Diamond League finals. But since then the DL has transitioned to a one-meet final format, making Zurich the penultimate and last chance to qualify for the big show in Brussels.
But before that, the Rome DL last week was a big test for Olympic 200m champ Letsile Tebogo. He passed with flying colors, and the Fantasy DL winners McChamp, ColdAsIceKE, and dmitlof1 did well in predicting the action.
Looking ahead to Zurich, a few matchups will be taking center stage. We’ll see rising star Georgia Bell face Mary Moraa and American phenom Addy Wiley for a chance at her first 800m crown. The women’s 100m will feature the rematch between Sha’Carri Richardson and her new rival Julien Alred, who stole the 100m title from her in Paris with a runaway performance. The men’s 1500m will see all of the Fantastic Four — Cole Hocker, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Josh Kerr, and Yared Nuguse — coming back with a possible world record on the line. In any other event, we wouldn’t expect someone in Jakob who was out of the Paris medals to be the favorite in a world record attempt, but such is the nature of the men’s 1500m. Can Hocker and Kerr be there in the final 150m?
